Are AI-generated images art?

When we are experiencing a crafted artwork, whether digital or physical, we are experiencing someone’s labor. That is, every small piece of the artwork is a consequence of an action performed by the artist: a brushstroke, a spill of paint, a carve, a drill, a computer-aided modeling of an object.

But what are we experiencing in AI-generated artworks? Is it the artist’s labor or someone else’s? To deal with this complicated question, I created an AI-generated image whose content is identical to the prompt I entered. Do we feel anything different experiencing this image than when experiencing normal AI-generated images?
